Music is not only an interest.
Music is not just a medium to draw attention to yourself. Music is not
just  a science. Music is not just an entertainment. Music is not just a
therapy and music is no drug.
Music is a "must", not a "can"!
The birds sing every day not because of narcissism, but because
singing is their nature.  We  humans  are often  blocked by our minds
and by the conventions of our culture. Even the high culture - to which
the  Art  music belongs -  can be  lived in a way  that is  cramped  and
hostile to life (alienated), if it is only limited to the worship  of the past.
I love and adore the music of the past, but I want to live in the present
and look to the future. My love, my passion and my joy as well as my
pain  and  my  grief,  my anger and my  laughter are real  and  divine
feelings, expression  of life  and vitality.  My dreams and the  wonders
of nature are signs of a deep spirituality that defines our beautiful world.
After  25 years  of composing and performing music,  I think  that  the
most important aspect in music is the flow. The breath of God may be expressed in the natural flow,  as can be  heard in the  warm and  transcendent
flowing polyphony of J.S. Bach's works, in the elegance and vibrancy of Mozart's music and in the "swing" and tention of some works of the Russian
masters Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. As a contemporary composer, I have to struggle for this innocent flow, but it is worth it.
